All about Channels

Channels lets you select single or multiple zone layouts for how to display your content. This is where your Ridgelogic Content Package is available. You may also choose between a default Theme or color space that determines the appearance of some apps instances.

Go to Channels on the left hand side, hover over “Three Zones – Traditional” click the “Set to Screen” button, select your new screen and click ‘confirm”

Next, click the channel to edit the content inside.

This is where you can preview your content, or pick and choose which content you are playing as part of your service. The Main Zone will show up immediately. You can select other zones from the screen diagram on the right-hand side, or you can select it from the dropdown menu on the top left.

By default, we populate the channel with content based on your sign-up survey. Your automatically-updating content is stored in a series of automatically-updating “playlists” which you can add to or remove from your channel.

To add content, click “Add Content,” and then choose your favorite content items from the Playlist tab. You can also upload your own content in the “Media” tab. To add app instances you have set up, go to the App tab.

When you are done choosing your new content, click the “Add” button to confirm your selection.

Click and drag to rearrange the playlist. Individual items can be day parted by clicking the scheduling area at the right-hand side of the playlist.

To finalize your changes, click the “Publish” button. This will send your new content to your RidgeLogic device.

Visit the “Channels” section of your account and click on the channel you’d like to revert any changes made to. When changes are published to a channel, you can select the drop-down arrow on the “Publish” button to view the last update made and the option to discard any changes published.

    1. From the left-hand menu, click on the “Channels” button.

    2. Get started by selecting “Create New Channel” and you’ll be prompted with a pop-up window to begin by naming your channel and selecting a color or icon for it.

    3. Click on “Edit” to assign a unique color or image to keep track of your channel.

      • Select channel color Assign a unique color to your channel. Once you’ve selected a color, click the “Done” button to continue.

      • Upload a channel image

        • You can upload a unique image for you to internally keep track of your channel. Select the “Image” option and click the blue “Upload” button.

        • Browse and upload your image, it will automatically scale to fit the channel icon size. You can choose to crop the image, circle taper the edges of the image, or rotate it.

        • Click on the “Upload” button once you’re finished and the icon will be the image for your channel.

        • Select the “Done” button to save your channel icon.

    4. Next, click on the “Continue” button and you’ll be prompted to choose your screen orientation for the channel. Please note, your channel will only play content in the orientation chosen between landscape or portrait mode.

    5. Click “Create Channel” and you can get started on setting up content in your channel. Click the “Add Content” button to open the media picker.

    6. You can select between playlists, media, apps, and links from the left-hand menu to add content to your channel.

    7. Once you’ve finalized the content you’d like to add to your channel, click on the “+ Add” button in the lower right-hand corner.

    8. Once the content is in your channel, you have a range of flexibility to schedule and manage any piece of content you’d like to use.

    9. Set advanced schedules: you can select the days of the week, set desired run times, and dates for specific pieces of content or playlists in your channels.

Visit the “Channels” section of your account. Hover over the channels you want to duplicate and click on the duplicate button.

Once duplicated enter a new name for the channel.

Screen layouts can be selected and used at the channel level to split your screen into multiple zones or revert to a single zone.

While viewing the channel builder, visit Edit Layout in the right-hand menu and select the zone layout previewer.

Under the Choose Layout window, you can now select from pre-set templates available and click “Select” to set this to your Channel.

Please note: not all of the services from the App Store have the ability to automatically resize or work in smaller/altered zone layouts that aren’t full-screen. Additionally if working from a duplicated channel you may lose your content que within a zone.

Zone content will be automatically assigned to the corresponding zone number on the new layout.

Switching between editing zone layouts:
Once you select a zone layout, you can switch between the zones while editing your channel to assign specific media to that section of your screen. For example, if I’ve selected a two-zone layout, I can switch between them respectively to edit and add content using the media picker (e.g. Zone 1 to edit one portion of the screen, Zone 2 to start editing the other portion of the screen).

Once you’ve set up your content and schedules in your channel, you can select the play icon at the top right corner of the channel tools to preview how the content displays live. You can also access the “Preview” while hovering over any of your channels while visiting the “Channels” section of your account.
  • Please note, the preview feature only displays what is scheduled to display on the screen at the time set up. If some of your content is scheduled for a week’s time, you won’t see this in the Channel preview until that time period has been reached. You can also preview any content in the media section individually. From the channel previewer, you can use the toggle bars at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to shuffle through the content you’d like to test. Additionally, you can click on the “Full HD” drop-down menu to view and experiment with different display resolutions.

  • You can also switch between your zone layouts (only if you’re using multiple zones) and use the right-hand menu to select a preview for any piece of content from the channel. For example, you can switch to a different zone layout displaying different apps and shuffle between them to preview (i.e. Selected “Office Clock” from the “Currency” app).

The previewer also gives you information on the type of content it displays at the bottom of the screen.
You can use a hidden zone in Channels to play music while displaying content to your digital screens called “Background Audio”. This is useful for playing tunes, audio, and media alongside your content. This feature supports MP3 file uploads or apps (i.e. YouTube, Vimeo) in which you would like to play the audio from in the background of your display. Please note due to general autoplay policy restrictions on web browsers that the sound might not play automatically while previewing from your account. The audio will play correctly on your screens. For example, you can click on the drop-down menu to switch between your zones and see that “Background Audio” is available. This allows you to switch between different sections of your screen to set up and schedule content for the zones. While switched to “Background Audio” you can select “Add Content” to begin adding MP4 videos or streaming apps to this zone which will play the audio.
From the top right-hand menu of your channel, you can select “Publish” to finalize and push any changes you’ve made to a channel live automatically. You can also discard any changes before publishing your channel live to double-check or add/remove any new pieces of content by selecting the downward arrow on the “Publish” button, including the last date and time this channel was published live.

  • To publish changes: click on the “Publish” button. This will load a check-mark and turn grey once the content has been confirmed to go live. Please note, once this happens, you can’t revert or discard the changes made using the menu option. You’ll have to remove the changes made manually.

  • To discard changes made before publishing a channel: click on the right-hand drop-down arrow from “Publish” and select the “Discard changes” option.
You can adjust your channels, and zone sections respectively, to fill or fit images used. For example, you can use the Fill Zone or Fit to Zone feature for scaling how your images display in a zone layout. Please note that this option only displays once you’ve added content to your channel.

  • Fill Zone: this fills the entire zone layout with an image.

  • Fit to Zone: this scales the image in accordance with the zone and dimensions. As you can see in the image example below, the image is not expanded or stretched to fill the entire zone layout.
If you have set up multi-zone layouts for your channels, you can also set up the full-screen switching feature to change your screen from a split to a single-zone automatically. This is useful if you would like to focus on any content in full-screen mode and then resume playing any of your content in split-screen as scheduled.
  1. To get started, you can visit any “Channel” in your account.
Please note, this feature only works with any channel that is using a multi-zone channel layout on your screen.

  2. While viewing your selected channel, you can select any piece of content and activate the full-screen switching feature by clicking the designated icon. You can turn this on for as many pieces of content as you would like and the content will be highlighted with a blue “Full Screen” logo.

  3. Once the feature is activated, select the “Preview” option for your channel to review your full-screen content switch between multi-zone layouts. The blue logo(s) on your preview console automatically overrides any multi-zone layouts and plays the content in full-screen on your digital screens. Any multi-zone layout content will resume playing as scheduled following any full-screen set content.
